Last weekend according to instagram
Finally after waiting since last August to see Sonya the weekend arrived!! We picked them up around 10 and headed downtown to get tickets for the Boulevard Brewery Tour. We got the second one of the day so we still had a little bit of time to kill. We went and walked around the Liberty Memorial and Union Station.
The tour was great. The guy that led it was funny and informative and I loved all the KC history that is bred into this brewery. If you are ever in town it is a must see! Plus they give you free beer at the end. It's a win win!!
After the tour we went to Oklahoma Joe's for lunch. When they came to town last year Kevin said he wanted some really good KC BBQ and I am pretty sure it was love at first bite. They all got the Z-Man Sandwhich and I was a good girl and got the smoked chicken salad. I had never had their chicken before and it certainly did not disappoint.
Friday night we headed out to the ballpark and caught a T-Bones game. I am fortunate enough to work for an amazing company who partners with the T-Bones and we were able to score free tickets! Normally the minor league games go pretty quick but this one was the longest I think I have ever been to. It was still fun and the between inning entertainment was hilarious.
Saturday morning I still got up bright and early and went for a walk. I had kettle corn at the game and woke up feeling incredibly bloated so all I could muster was a walk. But I walked for an hour and did over 3 miles!
Saturday was just as busy as Friday. We took the kids to the SeaLife Aquarium for the first time ever. It was a neat exhibit. I think it is ridiculously over priced but the kids really enjoyed it.
We had lunch at Fritz's, this cute restaurant that brings your food on a train. The kids LOVE this place and the food was actually better than I remembered it being the first time we ate there.
After lunch we went shopping for a bit. Lauren is in need of new tennis shoes for school. HOLY COW was that an ordeal. I get that she loves her some shoes but every single pair we tried on either didn't fit right or she didn't like the way they looked. SHE IS FIVE! Part of the reason it was difficult is she can't tie her own shoes yet so I wanted her to get some that velcro. Those seemed to be hard to find in her size. We went from store to store and then back to the first store we started and still came up empty handed. Finally after one last attempt we found a pair!! Thank goodness. We have started this week on teaching her how to tie her shoes. :)
For dinner Saturday night we went to a local deep dish pizza place. It is super good pizza but not somewhere we think to go on a regular basis. I was really glad Sonya and Kevin wanted to try it. It has been so long since we had been there I had forgotten just how good it was. I over indulged!
By the time dinner rolled around the kids were getting pretty slap happy. They had a lot of fun and were beat! Lauren slept in on Sunday and I just had to capture her sweet sleeping face before I woke her up to get ready for church.
I am so blessed to have gotten to know Sonya through blogging. We became fast friends and I love being able to have friends who come to visit or meet for couple vacations and family vacations. And the best part is Brian and Kevin get along great too!!
