They have been predicting a massive snowstorm for the Midwest all week but it kept getting later and later and they kept changing the time it was going to start and amount of snow we were supposed to get. I was really hoping they would be wrong and it would completely miss us but that did not happen!
I got up extra early to make sure I had time to get to work safely and not be late. The snow hadn't even started yet. By the time I drove 30 minutes we already had at least an inch on the ground.
I took the picture above of the snow coming down as I sat in the parking lot at work. Not even two hours later this is what it looked like and it just got worse from there!
In the 10+ years I have worked for my company we have only ever once closed early due to snow. Now I can say we have closed twice. Yesterday we closed shortly after 1pm and luckily by that time the snow had slowed and the roads were somewhat drivable. I am so blessed to have such great people in my life. My boss took me half way home where we met my dad and he took me the rest of the way. Then he came this morning, plowed my drive and my neighbors and then took me to work! I am sure he thought it would be easier to do this than come and pull me out of a ditch again!
I have a love/hate relationship with snow. The snow is pretty and normally I love it when it snows, just not when I have to drive in it and can't get back home! I like to sit in my warm house, under a blanket with a nice cup of hot tea or cocoa. When I have to go to work I get grumpy when it snows!
Brian luckily was off work both yesterday and today so he has been at home with the kids. When I finally made it home yesterday I made them snow ice cream. It was surprisingly very good! The kids ate it right up. I took six cups of snow and mixed it with 1/2 cup sugar, 4 tablespoons of unsweetend almond milk and 2 teaspoons of vanilla stirred it all together and viola.
I love photographing the snow. I haven't ventured out with my good camera yet because there is so much snow and it is SO DEEP.
The snow started falling again around 5 pm and continued on into the night. We had to have at least gotten 10 inches. The snow drift in our back yard is half way up our fence.
This morning as I was getting ready for work the kids decided to try and brave the snow. Brian bundled up with them and pulled them around on the sled for a while.
After PaPa bladed the driveway Colton got out his shovel to "do the rest."
After this Record Breaking Snow Fall there is supposed to be another system moving in for early next week. I am having flashbacks to several years ago when it did this around Christmas and then again around New Years and we were snowed in at my brothers when our power went out for three days!

I'm glad you made it home safe. That is a crazy amount of snow! We might have actually had a snow day with that amount!
Glad you were able to leave early and how sweet of your boss and dad to help along the way! The snow is so beautiful and you really got a lot of it. Someday I hope I get the opportunity to try that snow ice cream. It sounds yummy!
