The Color Run

Today I did my first official 5K and I couldn’t have picked a better one!

The Color Run is a 5K that supports the Ronald McDonald house, which is a charity very near and dear to my heart.  When I first was asked to do this I bawked.  Seriously? Me do a 5K?  yeah right!  But I decided to go for it and I am so glad I did.

I am a Color Runner

Off and on for the past several months I have been running and have actually found some enjoyment in it. But then several weeks ago I hurt my hip and my chiropractor put the kibosh on my running and then just when I thought things were looking up I fell down the stairs and was told again no more running. However I was still going to do this 5k. I had signed up and paid money and hey what the heck it should be fun right!?!?!

This is my friend Sarah and I before the run.  She is quite the motivator and the reason I signed up in the first place!  Even though I was told no running I did jog off and on for about 3/4 of the 5K

I had to get my game face on!

Starting line!  There were so many people.  I heard there was supposed to be over 12,000 today and there was another event yesterday.  That was the original day but it sold out in less than a week so they added another day, changed the venue and then added spots to BOTH DAYS!

At each 1K they had Color lanes you went through and got this colored dust thrown on you.  First was yellow, then orange, then blue and then pink.  At the finish line you got dusted with ALL the colors!

I look like an oompa loompa and the orange is still in my ear!

Finish line now let’s go get more color!

Ha!  It was such fun.  I will definitely be doing this again next year and I WILL run it!  As soon as my doctor gives me the ok I am going back to running a couple of times a week.  Who knows maybe I will sign up for another 5K. Winking smile

My name is Sonya and I am married to a wonderful man who is truly my best friend. I am the proud mommy of Lauren and our newest addition Colton! I love to cook, bake, read, scrapbook and I am a photography enthusiast. I also love to be around my large extended family. I have 4 nieces and 5 nephews.

Brian, is my wonderful loving husband. My best friend and the father of my children. He loves being a daddy, boxing, Muay Thai and working out.

Lauren is our 4 year old daughter. She loves her Daddy, running and being outside. She also is a big fan of "neighs" (horses). She amazes me everyday at all the new words that she can say and the new things she is learning. It blows my mind the things that she comes up with. She is such a great kid!

Colton, AKA, Little Man, is our newest addition to the family. He has brought us so much joy. Right now he loves to eat, sleep and is learning to walk. Colton was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 6 weeks old and has been wearing a Pavlik Harness since 7 weeks. He wore the harness full time for 8 weeks and then part time for 6 weeks for a total of 14 weeks. Having hip dysplasia hasn't slowed him down one bit. He can crawl and has recently started walking
