Today I did my first official 5K and I couldn’t have picked a better one!
The Color Run is a 5K that supports the Ronald McDonald house, which is a charity very near and dear to my heart. When I first was asked to do this I bawked. Seriously? Me do a 5K? yeah right! But I decided to go for it and I am so glad I did.
Off and on for the past several months I have been running and have actually found some enjoyment in it. But then several weeks ago I hurt my hip and my chiropractor put the kibosh on my running and then just when I thought things were looking up I fell down the stairs and was told again no more running. However I was still going to do this 5k. I had signed up and paid money and hey what the heck it should be fun right!?!?!
This is my friend Sarah and I before the run. She is quite the motivator and the reason I signed up in the first place! Even though I was told no running I did jog off and on for about 3/4 of the 5K
I had to get my game face on!
Starting line! There were so many people. I heard there was supposed to be over 12,000 today and there was another event yesterday. That was the original day but it sold out in less than a week so they added another day, changed the venue and then added spots to BOTH DAYS!
At each 1K they had Color lanes you went through and got this colored dust thrown on you. First was yellow, then orange, then blue and then pink. At the finish line you got dusted with ALL the colors!
I look like an oompa loompa and the orange is still in my ear!
Finish line now let’s go get more color!
Ah! Much better.
This is what they call the finish line Color Cloud. See all those amazing colors.
My sunglasses in the aftermath. They were caked with the powder.
Good close ups of my colorizing.
And my face after I took my head band off!
Ha! It was such fun. I will definitely be doing this again next year and I WILL run it! As soon as my doctor gives me the ok I am going back to running a couple of times a week. Who knows maybe I will sign up for another 5K.
