Green Tea

I have already posted about green tea once before but I have come across a new recipe and good info to share.

I read on WebMD that Drinking green tea or oolong tea offers the combined benefits of caffeine and catechins, substances shown to rev up the metabolism for a couple hours. Research suggests that drinking two to four cups of either tea may push the body to burn 17% more calories than normal during moderately intense exercise for a short period of time.

Green tea has lots antioxidants which is good for your health and Dr. Oz says green tea has been shown to boost your metabolism by 12% with drinking just one cup!  I don't know about you but all of that is good news for me since I still have some weight to lose!!

I usually drink my green tea hot.  I don't know why but that is how I have done it.  I like iced tea but really hadn't thought too much about making my green tea that way.  I don't want to replace my water with drinking too much iced green tea.  On his website {linked above} Dr. Oz shares a recipe for what he refers to as Tangerine Weight-Orade.  It sounded delicious so I thought I would give it a try!I didn't have any Tangerines but I did have oranges.  So here is how I made it.

Dr Oz Green Tea 1

Ingredients 3 quarts brewed green tea
1 orange sliced
handful of mint leaves, washed

Directions I have a Mr. Coffee Iced Tea brewer that happens to make 3 quarts at a time.  You can adjust this recipe to fit your needs.  I brewed my tea and then dropped the orange and the mint in with it and let it set in the refrigerator over night to let the flavors really blend together.

Dr Oz Green Tea 2

I enjoyed this drink.  I probably could have done with out the mint.  I really am not a huge mint fan but fresh mint tastes different than the mint you think of that freshens your breath.  It was pleasant though and I was able to drink the entire pitcher.  I have thought about buying a green tea that has mint in the bag already and seeing if I like that better.

I love iced green tea! I always make mine with some green tea tea bags and some mint tea tea bags. If you don't like mint, you might not like it, but I use Bigelow's Plantation Mint and it's not an overwhelming mint taste. Nice for the summer when you don't want to drink hot tea.

I think it's time for me to have some green tea.
I think I will ice it since I'm not a big fan of warm tea. Thank you for sharing. Certainly can't hurt!!!!

My name is Sonya and I am married to a wonderful man who is truly my best friend. I am the proud mommy of Lauren and our newest addition Colton! I love to cook, bake, read, scrapbook and I am a photography enthusiast. I also love to be around my large extended family. I have 4 nieces and 5 nephews.

Brian, is my wonderful loving husband. My best friend and the father of my children. He loves being a daddy, boxing, Muay Thai and working out.

Lauren is our 4 year old daughter. She loves her Daddy, running and being outside. She also is a big fan of "neighs" (horses). She amazes me everyday at all the new words that she can say and the new things she is learning. It blows my mind the things that she comes up with. She is such a great kid!

Colton, AKA, Little Man, is our newest addition to the family. He has brought us so much joy. Right now he loves to eat, sleep and is learning to walk. Colton was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 6 weeks old and has been wearing a Pavlik Harness since 7 weeks. He wore the harness full time for 8 weeks and then part time for 6 weeks for a total of 14 weeks. Having hip dysplasia hasn't slowed him down one bit. He can crawl and has recently started walking
