Baby Bump - 35 Weeks

I am a little late in getting my belly pics up this week. I have been so busy at work, working long hours and I am just exhausted by the time I get home at night.

Colton is growing and moving right along.  As I mentioned in the 3-D pictures post, he is not head down yet.  I have a really bad feeling that he is not going to turn.  I go to the doctor next Wednesday and as my Dad always says "Only time will tell"  I will just have to wait and see.  I think I may have a couple more weeks before they will really get concerned if he doesn't turn.

So for now I am just enjoying feeling him move and push against the right side of my belly for what feels like the hardest that he can!

And now....some fashion time with Lauren.  I got a bag of clothes from a friend. I just love hand me downs.  Well this is an outfit that was in there, minus the hat, my mom made that.  Also included in the bag was Lauren's very first pair of cowboy boots.  From the second she saw them she was in love!

She wanted to wear them to daycare the other day and it has gotten unseasonably warm here {about 10 degrees above average} and I didn't want her running around in boots and shorts, that would just look silly right? and we have to be fashion conscious.  So I put a skirt on her.  :)  I thought she looked rather cute.  She added the hat to the outfit herself.

Colton in 3-D

Yesterday Brian and I had the privilege of doing a 3-D sonogram and got several great shots of Colton!

His tiny little feet

His precious hands

AND his beautiful, handsome face!!

Isn't he amazing!!  Little booger was hard to get a face shot of.  He is currently in a transverse position {NOT GOOD for delivery} his head is at the top of my uterus and his but at the bottom.  He basically looked like he was folded in half.  Both of his feet are up by his head!  Ouch!  that is some flexibility.  :)  Let's hope that he is able to turn head down here soon.  I go to the doctor this afternoon so I am going to be sure to ask about that.  Lauren was breech for a while but she turned and I want to say it was right around this time so I am sure that he will too.

Dinosaurs

Yesterday, Lauren and I, went to the dinosaur exhibit downtown.  It was pretty neat.  They had life size {I guess!} dinosaurs that roared and moved.  Lauren wasn't scared of them at all.

Mollie kept trying to hold Lauren up so it looked like the dino was going to eat her but it kept moving and Lauren kept putting her arm down everytime I snapped the picture.

Uncle Aaron, Lauren and me.  I think Lauren is smashing my belly.  I don't look that big here!  Man do I feel big.  Yesterday was the first day in several weeks that the temperature was warm.  It got up to almost 90!  and it was HUMID!  I am not looking forward to the heat at all.  I swell so much more when it is hot and that is not a good thing.  Just under 6 weeks left!!

Running A Little Late

In posting about Mother's Day but that's ok, I am going to do it now because I have the cutest story to tell about Lauren. But first I want to show you all the newest addition to my lens collection. I guess you could call it a Mother's Day Present to myself.
I was going to buy this lens over 6 months ago and decided to buy a longer zoom lens instead.  I should have bought this one because I love it!!  I haven't taken it off my camera since I put it on and I am having so much fun playing around with it!

Ok so back to Mother's Day.  Brian was so sweet and bought me a gift certificate to get a pedicure.  That was exactly what I wanted and I can't wait to go use it!  Monday I am getting a prenatal massage, a birthday present compliments of Aaron and Mollie {yes my birthday was over 6 months ago, I have been saving bad boy till I thought I really needed it} and then my pedicure.  WOOHOO!

My mom made me a card with some pictures of Lauren on it and had her give it to me Saturday night. {CUTE STORY ALERT} Well Sunday morning Lauren was drawing with her markers on plain paper while I was checking my email.  She walked over to me and handed me this...

She then says...all on her own..."Happy Mother's Day Mama, here's your card"

I about fell off my chair.  It was the cutest, most special thing EVER!  I just love her to pieces and I can't believe she is so smart and she is only 2!!

Later in the day Aaron and Brian fixed all us girls dinner.  We had steak, mashed potatoes, grilled corn on the cob and chocolate chip cookie dough brownies {I'll post about those later} Since I was practicing with my new lens I took several shots of the food, much to the ridicule of my husband and brother but that's ok.

Doesn't that all look delicious!!

I don't know if I have ever mentioned this or not but Lauren LOVES horses.  She talks about them all the time and every chance she gets she wants to ride them.  Luckily Aaron and Mollie share her feelings and take her for rides all the time.  So while the guys were cooking Mollie and Lauren were riding in the back yard.

My dad and my brother both have several horses.  In fact my dad bought two ponies for Lauren and the other grandkids.  But Lauren is just as content on the big horses as she is on the little ponies.

This beautiful guy is Cheech, one of Lauren's favorites to ride.

Nursery - Painting - Phase 2

Well the stripes are done...for now.  The green color didn't quite turn out like we had expected to so we might be redoing those stripes. But for now...

This is what the wall looks like.

I like how the overall pattern turned out.  Brian did a really great job.

This is the wall that I plan on putting the crib on.  We got it on Friday!  Brian is going to work on putting it together tomorrow.  I can't wait to see what it looks like!

Jerk Chicken Nachos

This is my all time favorite homemade nacho recipe.  A friend of mine used to sell Pampered Chef and when I had a party for her this was the recipe that we made.  It is so delicious!!!

Jerk Chicken Nachos

Jerk Chicken Nachos

Ingredients
6 cups of tortilla chips
3 cups diced or shredded cooked chicken
2 cups of shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese blend
2 tablespoons of Jamaican Jerk Rub (keep them separated)
1 small yellow or red bell pepper (I like to us a combination of the two)
1 small lime
2 tablespoons of fresh snipped cilantro
¼ of a cup of sour cream and 1 teaspoon additional Jamaican Jerk Rub

Directions
1.Start by preheating your oven to 425°F. Arrange the tortilla chips in a slightly overlapping layer on a large baking sheet or stone.  I always use my large bar pan stone
2. In a bowl, combine the chicken, the cheese and 1 tablespoon of the Jamaican jerk rub. Mix together gently.
3.Sprinkle the chicken mixture evenly over the 6 cups of tortilla chips. Bake for 5 to 7 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Then remove from the oven.
4.While the chicken and chips are in the oven, dice the bell peppers. Then slice the lime in half(across). You should now juice half of the lime into a small bowl and add the remaining Jamaican jerk rub and bell pepper to it, then mix well. I usually juice the entire lime and skip using it as a garnish.  I just like the extra lime flavor
5.Snip the cilantro
6.Slice the remaining lime.
7.Spoon the bell pepper mixture over the nachos and sprinkle evenly with cilantro. If desired, combine sour cream and additional jerk rub in a resealable plastic bag. Trim the corner of the bag to allow the sour cream to flow through. Spread the sour cream mixture over the chicken nachos and garnish it with lime slices.

Baby Bump - 33 Weeks

It is so hard to believe that I have only 7 weeks of this pregnancy left. People are starting to ask me if I am ready for it to be over with yet and the answer is not really.  I  am still enjoying being pregnant and we have so much left to do to get ready for him BUT I sure am ready to meet the little kickboxer.  :)

We went to the doctor today for a routine check up and his heartbeat sounds wonderful.  That truly is music to a mother's ears.  That is by far my favorite part of every appointment.  Lauren came with us today and she even enjoyed it!  Everything else checked out ok too.

Colton's room is still a work in progress but we are definitely making headway.  The walls are painted and we are measuring out the stripes on one of the walls.  This is a long process...mostly because we did 3/4 of it and a couple of the tape strips were pretty crooked so I wanted Brian to redo them...we haven't been back at it yet.  :)  I am keeping my fingers crossed for tonight.  If not then my Dad is coming over Saturday morning to help.

The bedding is in.  I ordered the changing table/dresser and it came today!  Now we just need to put it together.  A task I know Brian is NOT looking forward to.  I also placed the order for the crib on Monday and got notice that it shipped yesterday.  Everything is coming along so nicely.  I was really beginning to wonder there for a while because everything I wanted was on backorder.  The bedding took almost 3 weeks to ship which stressed me out but then I went to order the furniture and since I was shopping around trying to get the best deal it was taking me a corn a while.  I had it in my cart for Babies R Us but the shipping was outrageous so I never placed the order and then it went out of stock and I panicked.  BUT this was a good thing because I did more research and found each item at another website with FREE SHIPPING!!!!  I saved about $100 just in shipping.  How sweet of a deal is that?!?!?!?!  :)

So as soon as the room is painted and the furniture is set up I will be sure to post pics.

Nursery - Bedding

I ordered Colton's bedding several weeks ago and was so disappointed to learn that it was on back order. {despite that his room isn't even ready for it!}  Anyways it came yesterday and I wanted to show you all.  I love it!!

Close ups

This is the blanket.  It is reversable.  The other side is brown velour type material.

It came with two crib sheets in the set and then the website that I ordered it from threw in an extra one.  So I have two of the blue and one brown.

Lauren wanted to cover up her "baby brother' doll with the blankets.  When we said it was for baby brother she immediately went and grabbed her doll.  So cute.  She was pretty excited.  Brian wasn't there when I opened the box so when he got home she was squealing at him to come look what came for baby brother!

We have started marking off the wall for the stripes so hopefully that will be done later this week...tomorrow is my goal.  We will see!!

I had a fabulous mother's day.  I hope that you all did too.  I have been so busy the past week it hasn't left me much time to blog.  :(

Nursery - Painting - Phase 1

Before...
This is Brian showing my dad the sketch of the stripes that he wants to do on one of the walls.  I am suprised my dad isn't scratching his head by the look on his face.  :)

Lauren watching to make sure Papa is stirring the paint right.  She wanted to help so badly.

So Daddy let her help a bit on the bottom parts of the wall.  We ended up with paint in her hair, on her shirt, on her arm and on her hand.

Painting with a 2 year old is not easy.

Almost finished.  It took me forever to find this color.  I had an idea and a sample of what I wanted but the sample wasn't big enough for them to match so I had to search and search for one that matched.

The base coat is on all the walls and sometime this week we will be painting stripes on one of the walls.  :)

My name is Sonya and I am married to a wonderful man who is truly my best friend. I am the proud mommy of Lauren and our newest addition Colton! I love to cook, bake, read, scrapbook and I am a photography enthusiast. I also love to be around my large extended family. I have 4 nieces and 5 nephews.

Brian, is my wonderful loving husband. My best friend and the father of my children. He loves being a daddy, boxing, Muay Thai and working out.

Lauren is our 4 year old daughter. She loves her Daddy, running and being outside. She also is a big fan of "neighs" (horses). She amazes me everyday at all the new words that she can say and the new things she is learning. It blows my mind the things that she comes up with. She is such a great kid!

Colton, AKA, Little Man, is our newest addition to the family. He has brought us so much joy. Right now he loves to eat, sleep and is learning to walk. Colton was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 6 weeks old and has been wearing a Pavlik Harness since 7 weeks. He wore the harness full time for 8 weeks and then part time for 6 weeks for a total of 14 weeks. Having hip dysplasia hasn't slowed him down one bit. He can crawl and has recently started walking
