Fix-It Friday #22 - Hands-On Photo Editing!

TGIF!! I am so glad that it is finally Friday and that means it is time for "Fix it Friday" I always look forward to this time of week and for the past couple of weeks I haven't been able to particpate. :( They were some really good photos to practice editing on too.

This weeks entry is titled "Southern Belle" it was submitted by Vika Jones who was interested in editing this photo to make it look like it fit into the time period of the little girl's clothing better. I am just learning to play around with textures and layers in Photoshop so bear with me!!

This puts a smile on my face

She is so special and beautiful! She puts a smile on my face. She brings so much joy to my life. This is an impromtu photo shoot that I did after it had rained and canceled my maternity shoot the first time around. That's ok. I love taking pictures of my baby!

Today she is not feeling well. She has been running a fever since yesterday afternoon and is have some stomach issues this morning. So I get to stay home from work and hang out with her all day. Too bad she isn't feeling well.

Its a brother and a sister kinda thing

Yesterday I wrote this post about my brother Paul. I didn’t intend for anyone in my family to read it. Not because I didn't want them to but most of my family a) doesn't know I have a blog or b) doesn't read it ever! But I wrote it as a way for me to remember him and to let all of you all know about him and how much that he means to me. Mollie, my soon to be sister in law, (in less than 2 months!) came across it when she was looking for my Red Velvet Cake ball recipe. Her and my brother, Aaron, are on vacation in Wyoming. Coincidentally enough that is the same place that he was 6 years ago when Paul died. I remember buying him a plane ticket home and picking him up from the airport. I stood there at the gate waiting and waiting for him, he was the last one off the plane. When he walked off the plane in his sunglasses and cowboy hat I remember grabbing him in a great big hug and not wanting to let go.

Last night after he read my post we talked. He told me that he loves me and I told him that I love him to and for them to be careful! Saying “I Love You” is not something that we really used to do a lot before, but when you lose someone it makes you think more about the people that you have left. I want all the wonderful people in my life to know how much they mean to me and just how much that I love them. I love spending time with Aaron. When we were younger Paul was my big brother and Aaron was my big/little brother. Because he was older than me but he was littler than me for several years. We are three years apart was I was big for my age and he was on the smaller side. People used to mistake us for twins and sometimes they still do!! It makes him so mad. I like it though. We do look alot alike and that is ok with me.

This is Aaron and I at my wedding on August 28, 2004

My family. My Dad, Aaron, my Mom, Me and Brian.

I wanted to do something special at my wedding to honor both of my brothers. For Paul I had a red ribbon tied around my bouquet and all of my family wore yellow ribbons. For Aaron, he and I did a special "brother/sister" dance right after the father/daughter dance.

I love that Lauren has a special connection with him and that she loves him with all of her heart and he loves her as well. I love that she lights up when he walks into a room and sometimes will only go to him. One day I had taken her to my dad's shop to visit him and Aaron. She had just woke up and didn't want to go to my dad but as soon as Aaron walked into the room she immediately put her hands out for him to pick her up. He got the biggest smile on his face.

Aaron holding Lauren the day that we brought her home from the hospital. I think this is the sweetest picture. I have several of her on his chest like this when she was little and I love them all.

Lauren, Aaron and I on his porch swing last summer. This is around the time that he got sick. To read about that see this post. I love that they bought this porch swing. I really wish that I had a front porch to put one of these on!

Aren't they so sweet!!!

Lauren and Aaron at the pool last summer

Thanksgiving 2008. I have another picture of Lauren from this day wearing Aaron's bluetooth and carrying around his can of chew. I call it "Uncle Aaron's Mini Me!"

Christmas 2008. Uncle Aaron bought Lauren this Elmo doll and she loves it. She doesn't recognize too many characters since we don't watch much TV with her but she sure does know Elmo. She loves Elmo and insisted on sleeping with this doll last night. I obliged despite it making noise and talking everytime you touch it!!

Me Aaron and Mollie at a T-Bones baseball game last summer.

I love that my big brother Aaron takes care of me and that he told Brian at Paul’s funeral that he would “kill him” if he hurt his little sister. Yes not the appropriate place to do that but that still means the world to me. I enjoy going to their house for dinner or having them over to our house. I love just hanging out with him. I am so looking forward to his wedding in September. I can’t wait to share in their new life together and someday be an Aunt to his children.

My name is Sonya and I am married to a wonderful man who is truly my best friend. I am the proud mommy of Lauren and our newest addition Colton! I love to cook, bake, read, scrapbook and I am a photography enthusiast. I also love to be around my large extended family. I have 4 nieces and 5 nephews.

Brian, is my wonderful loving husband. My best friend and the father of my children. He loves being a daddy, boxing, Muay Thai and working out.

Lauren is our 4 year old daughter. She loves her Daddy, running and being outside. She also is a big fan of "neighs" (horses). She amazes me everyday at all the new words that she can say and the new things she is learning. It blows my mind the things that she comes up with. She is such a great kid!

Colton, AKA, Little Man, is our newest addition to the family. He has brought us so much joy. Right now he loves to eat, sleep and is learning to walk. Colton was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 6 weeks old and has been wearing a Pavlik Harness since 7 weeks. He wore the harness full time for 8 weeks and then part time for 6 weeks for a total of 14 weeks. Having hip dysplasia hasn't slowed him down one bit. He can crawl and has recently started walking
