Why I blog

Occasionally I will mention to some one that I have a blog or a question will be posted on another site or chat board and people will ask "Why do you blog"

I started in the blog world by just reading a few blogs like MckMama's, and He Will Carry Me, Kelly’s Korner and Profoundly Seth. From there I found more and more blogs to read, some because their stories totally captivated me, some for pleasure, some for encouragement and some for my love of photography or cooking and baking. I really consider the authors of the blogs I follow on a regular basis to be my "friends" They let me into their lives and share little bits of themselves with me. I love leaving comments on the blogs that I follow on a regular basis. I try to comment on every post not just because I hope that my readers will do the same on my blog but that I might have some insight for them. I might be able to give them encouragement, advice, or just simply share in their happiness or sorrow.

I decided to start my own blog mainly as a place to store my recipes. When I originally was planning what my blog was going to be about, that is all I was going to do, post my recipes but I also decided to use it as a creative outlet to showcase my life, my daughter, and my photos, but it has become so much more. I love all of my readers and I hold their comments dear to my heart. I love the advice and encouragement that they give and I always get excited when new comments pop up on my posts. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, that people actually care enough to leave a comment.

I started out not telling my husband much about my blogging endeavors. Not because I had anything to hide from him but for the fear that he will think it is stupid because he just doesn't understand what all of my blog friends mean to me. He knew that I followed a few blogs, mainly MckMama's because I get a million tweets on my cell phone and I talk about Stellan and pray for the MckFamily on a daily basis. He didn’t really know that I had my own blog until one day I decided to tell him all about it because I wanted him to share in something that makes me happy. I showed him my blog and some of the posts. He now will tell me some ideas for posts that he has or that I should put this picture of Lauren or this and that. It is great! In fact when I was creating my latest header I had him help me pick out his favorite because I had too many to choose from.

Why do you blog and what does your husband or family think about it?

I blog because I have my Anne of Green Gable moments. You know how she always talked so poetically? Weird. Beautiful, yes, but weird. I think that way, but I can't find words to express it verbally. I've never had much trouble getting the written word to express my thoughts, and blogging is that outlet for me. I can write about my struggles as a young mother without fear of judgment. I can tell others who may not know how much I adore my Jesus. I can pour on sweet syrup about my husband and nobody wants to gag. Or at least I don't know if they do.

My husband is the only person in my real life who knows about my blog, and he's fully supportive of it. At times when I talk about the struggles we face, he's told me he's gotten encouragement out of what I've written. I could never say those words to him, but I can write them just as my heart means them. I haven't told about my blog because I love the honesty that I can have with my readers. For instance, if my family knew about my blog, I wouldn't talk about our finances. I don't think I'd be as eager to admit where I fall short. I think it would be strange for my family to know when we decide it's time to try for another baby, but somehow I have no problem sharing that with complete strangers. I'm so glad I discovered blogging. It's exactly what I need now that I'm home with my baby.

My husband is my biggest supporter.
Since I have asthma I am a bit of a shut in. I use to play Webkins all day. He thinks this is much better for me. I am making friends and actually using my mind.
I am really loving it.

I started a blog for two main reasons. One was to keep family updated on our lives and how/what the kids are doing (because that's really what family cares about any, right!?) :) I also wanted to start it as a way to remember things and keep a record and so my kids can look back at it one day. Since I horribly failed at baby books, scrap booking, etc. it's a good way for me to document all that kind of stuff. :)

I also have enjoyed meeting new people too! I think it's funny how you feel a bond with other blogging mommies and call them friends but I now do it ALL the time! :)

My husband likes it...I think. He reads all my post but that's about it, no input or anything which is okay! :)

I started my blog in July 2006 when I was in England for a month working on my master's degree. It was easier to keep everyone informed this way instead of emailing everyone. That way if someone didn't want to read they didn't have to! I considered getting rid of it after I got back, but I really liked it so I continued. I use it mainly for family that lives near and far to keep up with my life. Mostly it's for my own entertainment. I have thought about doing another blog that wasn't as much for family so that I could talk about other things, but it's probably not practical. I'm sure there are others who read my blog, but I just don't know about them! I love reading other blogs and there are definitely some people I wish I really knew! I don't think my husband reads my blog. He knows I have it, but he usually hears about what I write firsthand! I have also considered doing a blog book club because I have family members that I think would enjoy participating. I just haven't had the time to figure it out!

My name is Sonya and I am married to a wonderful man who is truly my best friend. I am the proud mommy of Lauren and our newest addition Colton! I love to cook, bake, read, scrapbook and I am a photography enthusiast. I also love to be around my large extended family. I have 4 nieces and 5 nephews.

Brian, is my wonderful loving husband. My best friend and the father of my children. He loves being a daddy, boxing, Muay Thai and working out.

Lauren is our 4 year old daughter. She loves her Daddy, running and being outside. She also is a big fan of "neighs" (horses). She amazes me everyday at all the new words that she can say and the new things she is learning. It blows my mind the things that she comes up with. She is such a great kid!

Colton, AKA, Little Man, is our newest addition to the family. He has brought us so much joy. Right now he loves to eat, sleep and is learning to walk. Colton was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 6 weeks old and has been wearing a Pavlik Harness since 7 weeks. He wore the harness full time for 8 weeks and then part time for 6 weeks for a total of 14 weeks. Having hip dysplasia hasn't slowed him down one bit. He can crawl and has recently started walking
